Mini-Grants, Scholarships, and Literacy Awards

       Mini-Grants

Santa Clara County Reading Council Members can apply each year for a mini-grant to support literacy projects in their classrooms.  Mini-Grants range from $100-$500.  Grant applicants must meet the following criteria:

1.  Must be a current SCCRC member

2. Must be a credentialed teachers with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience

3.  Submit a 250-300 word paragraph describing yourself, both personally and professionally

4.  Submit two letters of recommendation: one from your school administrator and the other from either a colleague, a student's parent, or another administrator

5.  All mini-grant recipients must write a grant implementation summary for publication on our website and submit it to SCCRC no later than May 15, 2012.

To apply for a SCCRC Mini-Grant, please fill out the mini-grant application and submit it to Mary Kuperman by January 20, 2012.

Scholarships

Upper-Division students who are entering the teaching profess OR are currently in their first two years of teaching may apply for a Scholarship through the Santa Clara County Reading Council.  Scholarships vary from $100-$500.  All applicants must meet the following criteria:

1.  Be an upper-division student as described above.

2.  Be a current Santa Clara County Reading Council member.

3.  Submit a 250 to 300 word paragraph describing yourself, both professionally and personally.

4.  Submit two letters of recommendation: one from a university reference or administrator and the other from a personal reference or colleague.

5.  All scholarship recipients must write a scholarship implementation summary suitable for publication and submit it to SCCRC by May 15, 2012.

To apply for a scholarship through the SCCRC, ,please fill out the scholarship application form and submit it to Mary Kuperman by January 20, 2012.

Celebrate Literacy Award

The Celebrate Literacy Award is given each year to recognize a local individual, agency, or institution that has made significant contributions to literacy.  This award is granted by the Santa Clara County Reading Council through the jurisdiction of the California Reading Association and the International Reading Association.

If you would like to nominate an individual or agency, please complete the nomination form below and attach the following documentation to justify your nomination:

1.  A narrative describing your nominee's contribution to literacy (not to exceed 2 pages).

Be sure to be specific in describing the nature and significance of exemplary services, practices, and accomplishiments of your nominee.  Previous nominees may be renominated.  A committee will select the winner and notify the reading council of its selection.  All nominations must be received by 5:00 pm on January 20, 2012.
