_____ By the Sea, (Gr. K-2), Eden Balbuena Adams (Fremont Unified)

Enhance your Open Court unit, your Science, or other Language Arts curriculum with fun, hands-on-activities that highlight ocean or sea life.  Watch your students engage themselves in child-friendly activities, that are “Bulletin Board – display or show” quality, and listen and watch Moms, Dads, and Grandparents Ohh and Ahh over their child’s work.  You will go home with finished products and instructions to make a sea urchin, a colorful fish, a hermit crab and a jelly fish.  So lets go “By The Sea!”

_____ Beyond Questions and Answers, (Gr. 3 +), Petra Esber & Jill Bohn (Brooktree Elementary, Berryessa Union SD)

Participants will create alternative responses to literature such as dioramas, dolls, floats and more.  We’ll be using paper, cardboard, fabric, wood and a whole lot of other creative materials.

_____ Be a Dream Traveler (Gr. 4+), Andrew Derrick (Brooktree Elementary, Berryessa Union SD)

Tying in Cara Johnson’s series the Dream Travelers we will be making Dream Journals, so we will be able to focus and analyze our dreams as well as making Dream Scapes.  Dream Scapes are a creative and artistic representation of what you want your dreams to become or what they have been.  We will also be talking about an easy guide to analyzing dreams, reiterating the importance of sleep and how restorative it is to our minds and bodies.

_____ Puppet Making (Gr. 3-6), Nancy Ringsted,  (Los Gatos SD)

Come discover the fun on designing costumes for a puppet of your choice.  You will start with a basic head and then learn how to make hair and costumes for a puppet you create to take back to your classroom.  Learn how to "fracture" & "modernize" Fairy Tales and movies into puppet scripts. Third grade through 6th graders can make this advanced type of puppet using styrofoam balls, ridge wrap, paints, and materials for costumes.  All you need is your imagination.

Workshop Fee is $5.00 for each workshop. NO REFUNDS.

Make checks payable to SCCRC Asilomar Conference, and mail to:
